Background | The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit, with sites offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, Jakarta in Indonesia and Kathmandu in Nepal. In Vietnam, we are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. OUCRU Nepal has partnerships with the Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Patan Hospital, and OUCRU Indonesia exists in partnership with the University of Indonesia. As a Wellcome Trust Africa Asia Programme, we have received considerable support from the Wellcome Trust since our establishment in 1991. OUCRU’s vision is to have local, regional and global impact on health by leading a locally driven research programme on infectious diseases in Southeast Asia. Priority is given to health issues important to the hospitals where we work, and to the countries as a whole where we operate: Vietnam, Indonesia and Nepal. Job summary | – Evaluating the safety, efficiency, effectiveness and maintenance of all Laboratory Instruments, Equipment, and Software. – Support Laboratory Manager in operation and Management of BSL2 and BSL3. – Support Laboratory Manager developing instrument preventive maintenance contracts and tracking – Support Lab Manager in technical management of laboratory instrument. – Support Lab Manager in installation, maintenance, operation and monitoring of OUCRU Cold Chain system. |
Key responsibilities and tasks | – Developing maintenance program for all Laboratory Equipment in proper functioning condition – Supporting maintenance plan for ensuring safety of Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) and keep facilities contain therein in proper working conditions: – Making availability the entire necessary documented manual, asset inventory system for Quality Management Systems for all biomedical equipment, keeping both archive folder and electronic copy in Microsoft Dynamics system – Writing reports, preparing documents, detailing protocols, policies, standards of asset management for use, maintenance and repairs of biomedical equipment, machines, and software. – Monitoring the Cold Chain system – Supervising vendor to perform maintenance, calibration, safety testing service for laboratory equipment – Attending to any emergency breakdowns and repairs. – Performing measurement and calibration for laboratory equipment, particularly for temperature monitoring system. – Participating in acquisition and procurement of new Laboratory equipment, spare parts, repair, maintenance and calibration services. – Managing spare parts warehouse for equipment – Arranging for training programs for Laboratory Management as well as the end users. – Maintain and develop a Laboratory Information Management System including automation and data management in SharePoint and Power BI. |
Selection criteria | Essential – Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. – Minimum of 5 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance or related fields. – Proficiency in equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance – Strong technical skills with a meticulous approach to equipment repair. – Knowledge of (laboratory) safety standards and compliance protocols for maintenance works. – Proficiency in English communication. Desired – Advanced problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues – Experience with equipment maintenance tracking systems – Effective time management and team collaboration skills. |
Benefits | Contracted salary: Grade: IC3/RS3 Point: 7 – 9 Salary ranges: $ 1,550 – 1,801 gross per month Optional insurance: In-patient and out-patient medical coverage; Personal accident insurance coverage Two months’ salary for annual bonus and clothes Annual leave 18 days/year for the first year, a maximum of 30 days Other responsibilities and benefits are based on Viet Nam Labor Law. |
