Key Activities

Support to develop the Pandemic Preparedness Engagement Framework

The YARG members will support the SCOPE team in developing the engagement framework by:

  • Supporting with organizing and taking notes in stakeholders’ meetings
  • Serving as stakeholders to identify hard-to-reach and the most impacted groups in the time of pandemics
  • Attending regular update sessions with the SCOPE team

Other activities as requested by the project’s coordinator.

Youth-led Pandemic Preparedness Activities

Through training and mentoring supported by the project’s coordinator and OUCRU experts, YARG members will

  • Use participatory and visual methods to identify health problems caused by infectious disease outbreaks in their communities, then facilitate community-led data collection, analysis, and solutions,
  • Conduct a mini-literature review to identify and document the applications of the participatory visual methods in (1) youth-led pandemic preparedness and/or (2) pandemic preparedness with youth,

Share their findings and recommendations with the SCOPE team, the SEACOVARIANTS study team, and other stakeholders who might have interest in their work.

Raise public awareness about SEACOVARIANTS study

The YARG members will meet with the SEACOVARIANTS study team to determine a scope of activities for 2024 with the main purpose of raising public awareness about the study.

Participate in the Capacity Development Program at OUCRU

The YARG members will immerse themselves as members of the OUCRU’s learning community by participating in capacity building and training programs offered to youth collaborators. Specifically, members will attend training on:

  • Public and Community Engagement (PCE 101)
  • Participatory and visual methods
  • Participatory action research (PAR)
  • Literature review
  • Soft skills
