Collab Lab is a co-creation platform that brings young people and biomedical scientists together with three main goals:
To achieve these goals, the YSAs work with research scientists to create a series of 2-minute animation videos to summarise and explain research findings. Audiences can provide feedback through an online form, social media platforms’ comments, and direct verbal feedback during the offline event called “Meet The Scientists” after the videos are published.
In 2023, wanting to improve the quality of the videos and reach a wider audience, the YSAs recruited a new team of 12 collaborators from both health science and social science backgrounds. The expanded team is working on the same five topics but aims to find research that is more relevant to the daily life of the public. The project team hopes to continue bridging the gap between scientists and young people, produce more creative and helpful videos, and attract more young people to engage in health science research.
Collab Lab team launched with only three members at this time.
They produced five videos on topics such as mental health, infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, climate change, and pollution.
Five scientists, who were the authors of the selected research, and over 40 university students and young professionals from health science institutions in Ho Chi Minh City attended the offline event “Meet The Scientists”.
