Mr Ken Awuondo joined OUCRU in April 2022 as Head of Laboratories. He brings extensive experience from a range of international organisations, including The Global Health Network at the University of Oxford, the EBOLA Vaccines Project (University of Sierra Leone / LSHTM / Janssen Pharmaceuticals), KEMRI-Wellcome Trust, the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), the US Army Medical Research Unit – Kenya (USAMRU-K), and the Wellcome Trust Research Laboratories.

In his role at OUCRU, he focuses on strengthening laboratory systems and developing capacity to support medical research programmes throughout Southeast Asia.

One of his key achievements has been building a highly motivated and cohesive Laboratory Management team by supporting each individual to reach their full potential. Moving forward, his goal is to harmonise laboratory activities across all OUCRU sites, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Indonesia, and Nepal.
