Postdoctoral Scientist & Vice Head of Dengue group

Nguyen Minh Nguyet, MD, PhD is a clinician and post-doc scientist of the Dengue group, OUCRU-HCM, specializing in infectious diseases, with nearly 20 years of working in the field of dengue research. She has been currently managing many research projects of the Dengue group, including clinical trials, targeting the high-risk population (obesity, pregnancy, elderly, etc.); the immune responses to virus infection; and the potential antiviral candidates.

Dr Nguyễn Minh Nguyệt is also active in many activities in collaboration with the Public and Community Engagement (PCE) team, such as Science Theatre, Chat with Scientists, Science articles for children, The Science Switch, Collab Lab, Dengue patient club, etc. 

 

Dr Nguyệt at the 2023 launch of the One Health book, a new science edition for young readers developed under the Making Science Make Sense Project by OUCRU PCE team, in collaboration with Bayer Vietnam and Khăn Quàng Đỏ newspaper. She served as the lead scientific editor.

 

A video based on research by Dr Nguyệt, developed under The Collab Lab, an OUCRU initiative that pairs scientists with young artists to co-create visual stories from health research, making science more engaging and accessible for young audiences.

Appointed as Deputy Head of Dengue group, OUCRU HCMC

2016

Obtained PhD degree from the Open University, UK and became Clinical Postdoctoral Scientist, Dengue group, OUCRU-HCM. Her PhD project was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Cameron Simmons and Prof. Tran Tinh Hien, investigating the variables mediating dengue virus transmission and disease severity and mortality.
