OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAMMES

OUCRU provides Vietnamese and international students with the opportunity to experience our unique research environment first-hand.

Clinical Internships

International medical students can join OUCRU Ho Chi Minh for 4 – 6 weeks to shadow doctors on ward rounds, meet with our research faculty and join our seminars and training events.

Application Deadlines

  • 28th Feb (for placements Jul – Dec)
  • 31st Aug (for placements Jan – Jun following year)

OUCRU Ho Chi Minh is based at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD), which is the main referral hospital for infectious diseases in the south of Viet Nam, under the direction of the Health Service and the Vietnamese Ministry of Health. 

All students must be in their final year of clinical training and show a strong interest in pursuing infectious disease/tropical medicine as a speciality.

We’re really enjoying our time on placement and exploring the city and surrounding areas. Everybody has been so supportive and willing to teach us in their spare time. We’ve also had the chance to go to the Children’s Hospital a few times and value the teaching that Dr Tram provides when she goes through cases from the presenting complaint, work-up, and management. This experience has really enhanced our learning.

Research Internships

Our diverse research groups welcome applications from local Vietnamese BSc or MSc students who wish to develop their research skills/projects under the tutelage of our scientists.

Students are encouraged to visit our research page and learn more about our research groups before contacting us.

Research internship applications are always welcomed, but are accepted on an ad-hoc basis, depending on the availability of our scientists and space within our research groups.
